Event Description

This week, we'll do our Thursday gaming on the PS3 instead of XBL for the first time. (Though Jonathan and Roger may be playing on XBL as well, I'm not sure.) The game we've chosen is Little Big Planet. (Which, incidentally, just got a Game of the Year edition, so if you haven't bought it yet, you could probably either get the original for cheap or buy the newer one and get a bit more content.)

I've never done multiplayer on the PS3, so this will be a bit of an experiment. My understanding is that there's nothing like the XBL party system; this means that we'll have to meet in a chat room to coordinate, then leave the chat room (at which point we won't be able to talk to each other) to start the game session or sessions, and then once we've got the games going we'll be able to chat again? I'll start the initial chat room (I don't have a camera, but presumably voice chat will work through my USB headset?); please send me a friends request at "malvasia_bianca" before time.

(Also, Sony recently did a firmware update, so you might want to take care of that before time, too.)

As always, 9:30 EDT / 6:30 PDT on Thursday. If anybody has more experience with PS3 multiplayer functionality than I do, please add comments/corrections!

The manual suggests that you might have to finish the first three levels of The Gardens before being able to play online?

Need to find out where that will fall in Aussie time, but glad you're extending out of your XBox comfort zone.

This is a good choice. I don't have a headset, but I'll play anyways. My PSN ID is learning to cope.
